Azadirachta indica, commonly known as neem, neem tree or Indian lilac, is a tree in the mahogany family Meliaceae. Neem tree is also known as one of the medicinal plants as a source of organic pesticides, and for its timber. The plant has also long been used in Ayurvedic and folk medicine and is used in cosmetics and in organic farming applications. Neem is usually grown from seed, but it can be spread from cuttings or root suckers. The plant is resilient and hardy, growing well in soft, rocky soils. Neem tolerates a wide range of environmental conditions, but is unable to withstand freezing or waterlogging temperatures.
